1. What we collect

Your account identifier (email address, and phone number if you sign in that way), the profile you create (username, display name, avatar, bio, and any optional details you add), and your activity in the app: your library, rankings and scores, takes you write, who you follow, and your reactions. Sign-in through Apple or Google shares only the name and email those providers release to us.

2. Data Security

All data syncs over encrypted TLS connections and is stored with established cloud infrastructure providers. We never sell your personal data or your rankings to anyone.

3. Contacts

If you choose to sync your address book to find friends, email addresses and phone numbers are hashed on your device using SHA-256 before any lookup — your raw contacts never leave your phone, and we store no contact list.

4. On your device

Your session token and preferences are kept in your device’s secure storage, and your library is cached locally so the app works offline. Logging out clears them.

5. Usage Analytics

To understand how Deko is used and to improve it, we collect pseudonymous product-usage data through PostHog, a third-party analytics provider that processes it on our behalf. This covers in-app activity — such as which screens you view, the features you use, and actions like adding, rating, or ranking a title — linked to a random account identifier, together with your app version and an approximate region inferred from your IP address. We do not send your email, phone number, or the demographic details on your profile to PostHog, and we never sell your data — sharing it with a processor that works solely for us is not a sale. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Privacy, and in the EU/EEA/UK we ask for your consent before collecting any of it.

6. Service providers

We share data only with processors that run Deko for us: cloud hosting and storage, an email provider that delivers sign-in codes, push-notification delivery, crash reporting, and the analytics described above. Each receives only what its job requires.

7. Deleting your account & retention

You can permanently delete your account any time in Settings → Account → Delete account (or starting from deko.watch/account-deletion). Deletion is immediate and removes your profile, library, rankings, takes, follows, waitlist entry, avatar images, and our analytics profile of you. We keep data only while your account exists.

8. Age

Deko is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
